DC Cupcakes Delivered

Today is my sister-in-law's birthday and since she is home with a new baby, I wanted to be sure her birthday is celebrated. GEORGETOWN CUPCAKE is one of the best bakeries in the country and founded by sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne. The best part is you can pick your own assortment of treats to be shipped anywhere in the continental US. Yay!

Katherine and Sophie traded careers in fashion and private equity to pursue something a little sweeter — their passion for artful cupcakes. Both lifelong bakers, Katherine and Sophie opened Georgetown Cupcake in February 2008 as DC’s first and only cupcakery. Watch their show DC CUPCAKES on TLC!

Clearly the cupcake craze is here to stay. I love these images from MARTHA STEWART of fun ideas how to serve them at a wedding or party. Visit her site for all of the "how tos".

My favorite spot here in Boston is SWEET CUPCAKES

How adorable are these cupcake flags from ETSY?

Or these cupcake kits from MERI MERI - love them!

Cupcakes are such fun at any party or wedding. The cupcake craze has not subsided and a new cupcake bar recently opened in Boston. How could that not be fantastic?

Want to make your own? Here are fun twists from REAL SIMPLE:

Slice a yellow cupcake in thirds. Fill each layer with whipped cream and stack. Dust with confectioners' sugar and top with fresh raspberries or strawberries. Yum!

Make cupcakes in mini muffin tins. Dust with confectioners' sugar and place in votive holders and insert candles. How fun for a birthday!
