Kids Party Martha Style

If you picked up the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living, then you, too, saw the off the hook 1st birthday party that Martha threw for her granddaughter, Jude. You can read all of the details HERE. Steiff animals set the theme for the party. As you can imagine, Jude has refined taste, so only clear balloons were allowed.

The cakes (three in total) were decorated with marzipan animals. Adorable! Find the instructions on how to make them HERE.

Every piece of cake was adorned with an animal. So cute!

Each guest left with a custom cookie from SWEET DANI B.

DC Cupcakes Delivered

Today is my sister-in-law's birthday and since she is home with a new baby, I wanted to be sure her birthday is celebrated. GEORGETOWN CUPCAKE is one of the best bakeries in the country and founded by sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne. The best part is you can pick your own assortment of treats to be shipped anywhere in the continental US. Yay!

Katherine and Sophie traded careers in fashion and private equity to pursue something a little sweeter — their passion for artful cupcakes. Both lifelong bakers, Katherine and Sophie opened Georgetown Cupcake in February 2008 as DC’s first and only cupcakery. Watch their show DC CUPCAKES on TLC!

A few delicious options:

Go Fish! Kid's Birthday Party

I recently came across an adorable kids party on CAKE. Photographer Michelle Dumais threw a 1st Birthday Party for her son, Abraham. He loves fish so she decided to go with a beach goldfish theme for his party.

The menu: sandcastle (ham & cheese) sandwiches, pasta shells with "seaweed" pesto, skewers with melons cut in fish and starfish shapes, tiny beach buckets with veggies and ranch dip, jello jigglers with Swedish fish, blue lemonade, and of course, Goldfish Crackers.

Michelle was incredibly creative on a budget and made the invitations, the cake, the happy birthday bunting and goldfish pinata. The party favors were sidewalk chalk in ice cube trays from Ikea. The orange and aqua metal pails are from the dollar bin at Target. The polka dot straws are from ETSY.

Pink Princess Party for Mia

Mia and Auggie

Happy Birthday Mia! This is a post I did in honor of Mia last year and it is was such a huge hit, I wanted to share it again this year in honor of her and her great style!

Mia is one of my favorite little people. (She is also best pals with my Jack Russell, Auggie.) Her birthday inspired me to create a party theme that would capture her fun, outgoing personality and incorporate her love of ballet and dressing up!

An evite from COCODOT

All of Mia's friends would be asked to wear a leotard and be given a TUTU, a BOA and a TIARA when they arrive.

Mia does not shy away from the spotlight and, of course, would have a special TUTU.

For the decor, how about hanging these LILLY POMPONS from the ceiling? Cute, right?

Make your own tablecloth with fabric from LS FABRICS.

PINK PEONIES in julep cups in a row down the center of the table.

White goblets from JONATHAN ADLER. Mia is very stylish, so her party has to be too!

Fun cookies from ELENI'S - a great company and they ship across the US.

PINK LEMONADE for the kids and PINK CHAMPAGNE for the parents.

STRAWBERRY PARFAITS are a fun treat before the cake arrives.

Goodie bags for the girls filled with assorted PINK CANDY, PRINCESS LOLlIPOPS and princess theme SILLY BANDZ . (Mia loves them.)

Instead of a birthday cake, I would serve a cake stand with cupcakes and candles. Mia's mom is a talented baker and would want to bake Mia's dessert from scratch. She could use these PRINCESS CUPCAKE WRAPPERS.

Or this fun PRINCESS CUPCAKE KIT

Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day!
