Flowers on a Budget

Don't want to spend money on an expensive centerpiece? Do it yourself! I got these flowers at a local market, combined with floral foam - and voila! A centerpiece for a late summer fete.

White Spring Centerpiece

One of my dear friends in Boston had her daughter's first communion this past weekend. They were so sweet to include me in this important family occasion. I did the centerpiece for the celebratory dinner after mass. Since all the girls wear white for communion, that set the color scheme. I used lilies, freesia and roses. I wrapped the oasis in aspidistra leaves (the secret that most florists use). So easy! 

Valentine's Day Flowers

Valentine’s Day is a time to show love and affection, and many people celebrate over dinner. A beautifully decorated table will make your loved one feel special.

Although red and pink are the symbolic colors of Valentine’s Day, they aren’t the only options. To complement any décor, add one or two coordinating colors. Try pairing deep coral with pink or rich burgundy with red. 

                  

For a whimsical display, fill the bowl with candy to create an inviting aesthetic. For a simpler presentation, arrange several single bud vases around the table.

Do It Yourself Hostess Gift

Last night we celebrated a friend's engagement. I did the flowers myself (see below) and wanted to match the restaurant's rustic setting. I decided to make the favors and bottled rosemary infused olive oil. It was so easy! Find the directions HERE. The bottles I found at a local hardware store and the raffia ribbon at PAPER SOURCE. It would be the perfect hostess gift!
