Hip Baby Shower

My sister-in-law, Diana, rocks and is expecting Baby #2 and this time it is a boy. My adorable niece Harper (see below) is almost three.

Her friends are planning a shower for her and she asked me to come up with some fun ideas. Baby showers really can be stylish and fun!

If you send an evite go with PAPERLESS POST and any of these could be customized for a shower

Since Diana lives in Virginia, I think one long table outside for a brunch is perfect. I love this blue table setting from Carolyne Roehm.

Custom COOKIES wrapped in cello bags with a ribbon at each place

Serve fun drinks both alcoholic and non in mason jars. Have them already chilling in a tub and guests can help themselves.

With personalized straws on the side with fun messages for the mom-to-be. I would coordinate the color scheme, but this gives you the idea. Find straws HERE.

Classic tea sandwiches get an upgrade. Skip the cucumbers and make BLTs, curry chicken salad and other delicious sandwiches. Cut stars out of silver paper and glue to toothpicks. Cut in the shape of moons and you can find the cookie cutter HERE

Gazpacho is perfect for a summer gathering. RECIPE

Other ideas for a party menu

Carmelized Onion TARTS with apples

Grilled ASPARAGUS with an Orange Dipping Sauce

For dessert, skip the cake and do something a bit more summery and unexpected like tarts with ice cream and warm blueberry sauce. RECIPE

And a Candy Bar for guests to take sweets home with them.

In custom FAVOR BAGS

Have guests bring the new baby a favorite book that he/she is not likely to already have in their library.

A few titles that might not be in the mom-to-be's library

  1. Love the paper pom poms, straws, and your adorable niece!! xo

  2. This shower would be a gift for those invited! Harper is a cutie!

  3. What fabulously stylish and creative ideas - but of course I would expect nothing less!! I just love the idea of the drinks in the mason jars. My elder daughter has been hijacking all my mason jars lately to drink from!! And I am most definitely using the tart with ice cream and blueberry sauce idea!!

  4. Oooh, The Big Red Barn - one of our favorites! Love your stylish shower picks, and mason jars aren't just for flowers, are they?

  5. Amazing post!! I am going to forward this to one of my best friends as she is planning her own daughters baby shower for August. This is chock full of beautiful inspiration and great ideas.....love the invites, and that little Harper is too cute!!

  6. Such amazing ideas! Your neice is so beautiful. I know she'll be the best big sister! Let us know when you're nephew arrives!!!

  7. What a great post! Filled with inspiring ideas for any party. Thank you.
